Standard Wegovy dose schedule

Wegovy is titrated over about 16 weeks to reach the maintenance dose. The stepwise increase helps reduce GI side effects and lets your body adapt gradually to semaglutide.

  1. 0.25 mg

  2. 0.5 mg

  4. 1.7 mg

  5. 2.4 mg

If a step is poorly tolerated, prescribers often hold or step back temporarily before resuming titration.

What the trials show for Wegovy

STEP-1

14.9% mean body-weight loss at 2.4 mg over 68 weeks

STEP-1 was a 68-week randomized trial of 1,961 adults with obesity (or overweight plus a weight-related condition) without diabetes. Participants were assigned to placebo or weekly semaglutide 2.4 mg, alongside lifestyle counseling.

Common side effects of Wegovy

Semaglutide-specific tolerability profile.

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Injection-site reactions

Most GI symptoms appear in the first weeks at each new dose and ease as your body adjusts. Eating smaller, slower meals and limiting greasy or sugary foods reduces nausea for many people. Persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, or signs of pancreatitis (e.g. severe back pain) warrant calling your provider.

This is informational only, not medical advice. Talk with your healthcare provider before changing your dose.

Wegovy questions

Made for GLP-1 users,
by a GLP-1 user

After months on GLP-1s, I was frustrated. I found myself navigating forgotten doses, inconsistent progress, and juggling multiple tracking apps without getting much in return. So, I decided to build something better.

Over the last year, I built Sage to be the ultimate companion for GLP-1 medication. I prioritized bringing ease, clarity, and efficacy to tracking. And it's only going to get better.
